The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA), has issued a strong advisory warning students to avoid any form of involvement with a group identified as NEOLIFE, citing concerns over student safety, academic focus, and overall wellbeing.
In a press release dated January 14, 2026, and signed by key executives of the Union, the SUG disclosed that members of the group have been approaching students on and around the university campus. The Union cautioned that participation in the activities of such groups could distract students from their studies and negatively affect their academic progress.
According to the statement, the group reportedly targets students by presenting themselves in corporate-style outfits or uniforms, a tactic the Union described as deceptive. Students were advised to remain vigilant and set clear boundaries, as the group allegedly uses manipulation and false promises to lure students into its activities.
The Students’ Union further urged any student who encounters or is approached by members of the group to avoid engagement and promptly report the incident to Students’ Union representatives, lecturers, appropriate university authorities, or campus security.
As a constructive alternative, the Union encouraged students interested in skill acquisition, income generation, and professional development to engage with the Campus Entrepreneurship Centre. The Centre, according to the Union, offers approved and career-relevant skills such as software development, structural design, drafting tools, and other vocational or digital competencies aligned with students’ fields of study.
The SUG emphasized that these skills are designed to enhance academic experience, improve employability, and prepare students for life after graduation.
Reaffirming its commitment to student welfare, the Union stated that the safety, focus, and success of FUTMINNA students remain its top priority, calling on all students to stay alert, remain focused, and work collectively towards academic excellence.
