Bayero University Kano (BUK) inducted 149 new medical professionals on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 — comprising 131 medical doctors and 18 dentists. The joint 24th MBBS and 10th BDS induction ceremony took place at the Convocation Arena, New Campus.
Fatima Kyari, Registrar and Chief Executive of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, administered the oath. She congratulated the inductees for completing their demanding academic and clinical training and charged them to maintain professional ethics and safeguard the integrity of their licences.
Professor Amina Mustapha, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Development), represented Vice-Chancellor Professor Haruna Musa. She called the ceremony a major milestone for the graduates and their families, urging them to pursue excellence and be worthy ambassadors of BUK. She also praised the Faculties of Clinical Sciences and Dentistry for graduating students “worthy in character and learning.”
For academic awards, Dr. Ismail Abubakar Muhammad was the overall best graduating MBBS student, also topping Biochemistry, Medicine, and Surgery. Dr. Fatima Ibrahim Hafizu emerged overall best in Dentistry after excelling across key dental disciplines.
