The Senate of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai has approved the promotion of five senior academic staff to the ranks of Professor and Reader (Associate Professor), reaffirming the institution's commitment to academic excellence and merit-based advancement.
The promotions were approved during the Senate's 108th Regular Meeting held on Thursday, July 2, 2026, following favourable reports from independent external assessors confirming that the beneficiaries met the university's requirements for academic promotion. The appointments take effect from October 1, 2025.
Promoted to the rank of Professor is Aliyu Alhaji Zakariyya of the Department of Science Education, Faculty of Education.
Those elevated to the rank of Reader (Associate Professor) are Isah Mohammed Chado of the Department of Biology, Jibrin Alhaji Yabagi of the Department of Physics, Zubairu Muhammad Isah Doko of the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies, and Musa Mustapha of the Department of Human Anatomy.
Vice-Chancellor Mohammed Hadi Sulaiman congratulated the newly promoted academics, describing their elevation as recognition of their dedication, scholarly achievements, and contributions to teaching, research, and community service.
He reaffirmed the university's commitment to maintaining a transparent, merit-driven promotion system that rewards excellence and strengthens its reputation as a centre of academic excellence and innovation.
