WAEC UPDATES SUBJECT TITLES FOLLOWING CURRICULUM REVIEW

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced a change in the titles of some subjects for the ongoing 2026 WASSCE for Private Candidates, Second Series.

WAEC said the revision is as a result of a curriculum review carried out by the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE). The Council noted that only the subject titles have changed, the syllabus remains the same.

The affected subjects are now to be called:

- Business Management - Business Management Studies

- Commerce - Principles of Commerce

- Economics - Principles of Economics

- Financial Accounting - Business Accounting

- Government - Politics and Governance

- Principles of Cost Accounting - Principles of Accounting

The examination started on Friday, September 4, 2026 and will end on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.

Candidates are advised to take note of the new subject titles.
