IBBUL PROMOTES SIXTEEEN ACADEMIC STAFF TO PROFESSORS AND READERS

The Senate of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, at its 107th Regular Meeting, has approved the promotion of sixteen (16) senior academic staff to the ranks of Professors and Readers (Associate Professor), following the consideration of favourable reports from external assessors.

The promotions, which take effect from 1st October, 2025, were granted to staff who successfully met the rigorous academic and professional criteria as stipulated by the University’s Appointment and Promotion Committee and subsequently ratified by Council.

A total of eight (8) academic staff were elevated to the rank of Professor. They include:
Dr. Abdulmalik Muhammad, College of Health Sciences (Human Physiology),
Dr. Ndasalihu Usman Abubakar, (Library Science),
Dr. Abdul Hadi Adeniyi Salahudeen (Arabic & Islamic Studies),
Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Letswa, (Political Sciences),
Dr. Daniel Ibrahim, (English),
Dr. Abubakar Abdulkadir, (Mathematics)
Dr. Hadiza Muhammad Liman, (Geography), and 
Dr. Mamman Saba Abdulkadir (History & International Studies)

Similarly, eight (8) others were promoted to the rank of Reader (Associate Professor). They are:
Dr. Isah Adamu (Public Administration)
Dr. Kolo Alfa Idris, (Adult Education),
Dr. Abdullahi Ibrahim, (Computer Science),
Dr. Umar Musa Tanko, (Chemistry),
Dr. Muhammed Jibrin Ndejiko, (Microbiology),
Dr. Sidikat Shitu, (Economics)
Dr. Yunusa Audu, (Biology), and 
Dr. Yahuza Danjuma Izom, (Political Sciences).

The University Senate noted that the promotions reflect the Institution’s commitment to academic excellence, research productivity, and the continuous development of its human capital.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mohammed Hadi Sulaiman, commended the promoted staff for their dedication, resilience, and contributions to teaching, research, and community service. 

He urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by further strengthening the University’s academic reputation and mentoring the next generation of scholars.
This milestone underscores IBBUL’s steady progress in building a robust academic environment capable of competing globally.
