As LASUCOM counts down to the NUC Accreditation assessment for Seven (7) of its programmes holding later this year, the Vice-Chancellor's Standing Resource Assessment Committee returned to the College on Tuesday 8th September, 2026 for a final mock exercise to assess the level of compliance with the recommendations made during its first visit and evaluate the progress achieved.
This follow up exercise also provided an opportunity for the committee to reengage with the concerned faculty members, departmental representatives and staff, identify new areas requiring improvement according to the NUC guidelines and make recommendations aimed at strengthening the College's readiness.
The seven (7) LASUCOM programmes scheduled for accreditation are Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Radiography and Medical Laboratory Science which are seeking initial accreditation, while Physiology, Nursing and Pharmacology are undergoing reaccreditation.
The accreditation team was received by the Provost, Professor Olufemi Idowu, who welcomed and ushered the team into the commencement of the exercise, assuring them of the College Management and Staff's full support towards ensuring a seamless accreditation process.
The assessment, like the initial visit, focused on review of academic and administrative documents some of which include staff nominal rolls, course summaries, marking schemes, academic calendars, library holdings, laboratory equipment and departmental records.
The committee also requested detailed information on the College’s lecture halls, including their names, locations, seating capacities, and availability, as part of the resource assessment to review the adequacy of the facilities in relation to the student population and assess the extent to which the available lecture spaces support effective teaching and learning across the programmes under review.
The conclusion of this mock exercise underscores the University and LASUCOM’s readiness for the NUC accreditation visit later in the year, with the College poised to build on the gains recorded, address identified gaps and present its programmes, facilities and academic resources for a successful accreditation outcome.
